I don't know if they get bored, or just can't bring themselves to finish it but endless sequels grip my shit.
Make a self contained story, we don't need things to run so long that I actually end up hating the whole thing in retrospect because they just couldn't let go or come up with a new narrative. It feels like the MMO model; just keep releasing expansions so the customer base keeps paying, but it always ends up as bloated passionless shit, internal contradictions run rife and it sours the whole thing for me.
