I’m rolling around a metaphor in my mind for legacy social media platforms vs #nostr clients - let me know if it makes sense:

If legacy platforms are aquariums…

Then Nostr clients are glass-bottom boats…

If legacy servers are tanks…

Then Nostr relays are currents…?

Hmm 🤔 🐠 Still grappling with the best way to break this down for less techie folks. #grownostr

It’s crazy to think about, right?

Bitcoin - nodos

Nostr - relays

Así seria

Nostr is where weirdos hangout.

It’s platforms vs protocols

If traditional social media are walled gardens… then nostr is the open universe…

…do what you will, be yourself, retain your privacy… it’s that simple

It's to explain relays. But what I see managing servers for a long time and giving accounts to friends and families is that with relays they don't need me to create accounts, reset passwds anymore. And I can't delete an account if I fight with some friend or whatever.

What I mean is that it's much better than the fediverse, because on fediverse people still depend on some servers.

Right - it’s a little hard for people to grasp that this isn’t like mastodon or discord. But that’s the key difference - decentralized, user-controlled.
