I don't think a lot if people realize there is a straight line between the Roman Empire, The British Empire, and America Imperialism. Many of the non-puritan settlers came with the specific intent of recreating the Roman Empire. It's one of the reason you see so many Roman columns in US goverment building and old plantation mansions. The system is not broken, the system works exactly as intended. And it will drive us into the ground if not intentionally dismantled.
Never forget that US is not a Democracy, it is Republic, just like Rome.
