I just ordered internet for my desktop. I am wondering what is the best modem/router to use for running a node? The modems here come locked with no access to configure ports.

It depends on your computer, where you live, do you fiber in your area, etc.
You may have for example 1GB fiber internet speed but your computer motherboard maybe only able to handle a bandwidth of 250MB or 100mps per second. Also more devices connected to your internet, more speed you will need.
No fiber. It'll be either cable or dsl, I'm not sure which this company uses.
Basically all that means is when your neighbors are on the internet, it will slow your down. Fiber optics is ideal because it's a direct line to your house.
It is what it is. Fiber is not an option, it's not avaliable in my neighborhood.
Depending how remote you are.. star link might be better alternative? 🤔 depends how much you wanna spend and situation. I used to work at a internet provider company in Canada so I know all the dirty tricks how to save money 💰 😆
So it turns out nostr:npub1826v365he5ty69lk3xgvzqrwy8587vdfrxnsz0k09khzustf8r7s6j7t95 that the internet provider I chose is a new technology, and supposedly I will have close to gigabit up and down speeds. It is wireless that connects to fiber.
