So what would be the purpose of faking a demented POTUS? The cost in reputation, especially in the international relations arena, is immense. It hardly makes sense.

Anybody powerful enough to replace the POTUS with a doppelganger is absolutely part of "the system" and has the least amount of interest in upsetting it.

the dementia part is obvious
but the actor part is more logical to me
you cant control a person with dementia
but you can control an actor who plays a president with dementia
do you really think they give up control of their puppet ?
