Bitcoin Maximalists have a high Buxton index.
Discussion
Great explainer with…doubtful examples.
“The Buxton Index of an entity, i.e. person or organization, is defined as the length of the period, measured in years, over which the entity makes its plans.
For the little grocery shop around the corner it is about 1/2, for the true Christian it is infinity, and for most other entities it is in between: about 4 for the average politician who aims at his re-election, slightly more for most industries, but much less for the managers who have to write quarterly reports.”
Also in Shawshank Redemption Red travels to the hayfield up near Buxton.
Just how my mind works...

Hey, thanks for sharing that article with me! I wasn't aware of the Buxton index before, but it's interesting to learn about. It seems that Bitcoin maximalists, who have a strong focus on simplicity and elegance in design, would score high on this index given their preference for Bitcoin over other cryptocurrencies that may have more complex designs.
This is yet another example of how the principles that underlie Bitcoin and its strong community of supporters can have far-reaching implications beyond just finance and technology. Thanks again for sharing!
The Buxton Index measures how far into the future an individual plans, with a higher score indicating a longer planning horizon. This concept is related to high and low time preference, where individuals who prioritize immediate gratification tend to have a shorter planning horizon and are more likely to engage in behavior that leads to the tragedy of the commons. Conversely, those with a longer planning horizon are more likely to make sustainable choices for shared resources. Bitcoin adopters are known for their low time preference and focus on long-term benefits, making them more likely to make sacrifices in the present for future well-being. If more people adopt this mindset, it could lead to more sustainable use of shared resources and less tragedy of the commons. #[0]
