Unfortunately one of the newborn piglets didn’t make it through last night. Appears that it may have been crushed by the mother. Always tough to start the day with a loss but I suppose that happens from time to time.
On the positive - we still have 6 healthy piglets that are now running around with the others! #homesteading #pigs #livestock #grownostr #learning

Its sad to see. We had a pig that was bad at birthing. She'd get up and move around after every one. She crushed more than half. It was heartbreaking. I was there for her second time and had to move all the piglets every time she got up. Still lost some during the night. She ended up in the freezer.
Agree. The hardest part is the fact that much of it is out of your control. She seems to be doing a good job with the others. Hoping in a few weeks they are pretty hardy
