Growing up my godparents used to give me US Gov bonds every year for Christmas and my birthdays.
Then free money happened and that was a thing no more.
It's becoming a thing again. But why do bonds when you can get them #bitcoin

I have a goddaughter that just graduated high school. My wife insisted on giving her cash. I objected and offered to sell her bitcoin for as much of that cash as she wanted. She declined.
My wife gets Bitcoin but the whole transaction is so high-time preference that it’s sickening.
I matched the cash on an Opendime for her. Neither she or my wife know about it but a close in-law does and if she figures out how to do it - the sats will be hers.
They will all tha knyou for it when they turn 18.
All my nieces, nephews and little cousins get sats instead of toys.
This has been the way for 3 years now. I maintain the wallets and they get a note with their balance on the special occasions.
Their parents are like "don't mind uncle Shashue honey, he was in the war and it broke his mind."
I'll know when their ready for self custody when they ask me for their seed phrases or have their own wallets.
