I try to tell them to at least try out AI stuff and extend their horizons a bit but so far they're just interested in using it to cheat in exams or be lazy.
I've had the same experience. I've also noticed AI ia getting political because people are starting to feel threatened by it.
I told one of my normie friends about some of the stuff I've built using AI and he sais, "Well... I don't think AI will ever replace humans..."
I was like, "I'm not trying to start a political debate. I'm just showing you a website I made with AI this morning."
Now that I think of it, he's probably pissed because he paid someone thousands of dollars to build a website for him and I can build way cooler websites for about 2% of the cost.
Reminds me of when I was still vegan. People tend to have some weird head canon at play, no matter the topic.
I mentioned I cooked some delicious food but because they knew I was vegan they started babbling on about how they had meat today even though they usually don't eat that much meat. I don't now if it's just some automatic response when they don't have anything of interest to speak of.
The issue is with them, not you/us.
