You don’t think a wood frame would work?
I think it could if it were solid and a single piece. Steel parts for the slide to attach to would probably be best though.
I don't see why it would if the wood is solid and the attachment system is sound.
The shock on the frame would be hard on wood. Heck I've heard of aluminum guns not holding up more than a couple thousand rounds. It might work for a few rounds depending on the caliber, but not many. The stress on the frame would tear it apart.
