Ink cap shaggy manes living up to their name.

Only a short window to find and harvest these tasty mushies.

They quickly turn pink then black and literally disintegrate into a black ink liquid.

I remember one time I left one in the coffee cup holder in the work truck. Was not a fun clean up of black sticky goo.

I have these all over the yard right now.

They are tasty??? They seem very toxic

And I'm quite certain this is what made Arnie sick in the spring.

They are some of my favourites

Cut them young. At the base. Fry them up in butter.

If you see any pink on the inside at all just toss them back on the lawn.

They are a choice culinary edible mushroom.

Very hard to mis-identify. But yes. VERY TOXIC if you consume them after the pink starts to show.

Pink is followed by black. It’s easy to identify as they will feel much softer than the younger edible fruiting bodies.

If your puppers Arny did get sick off them i bet he wont again.

You can’t get rid of the fungal network in your lawn so you mine as well cash in the golden ticket you got 🤓

If you have too many. Freeze them instantly. Don’t consume mushrooms more than 3 times a week if you’re micro biome isn’t adapted.

I’ll go cut a few off my lawn and dissect them to show you

I stay on top of harvesting them every morning so i don’t have any pink to show you, but the red circle is where the signs are.

If it’s soft and discoloured toss it. If they are firmer like first photo you’re in the money.

I also advise verifying and not just trusting my advice 😎

The black goo was used for ink at one point hence the name 😉

Can definitely see that.

I was thinking of letting on go to ink and making an inc blot art.
