Nerdy thought. 🚨

“Food” is such a poor word for what it means. From Fodder, or “material”. Seriously?

Other languages have such a greater world for it. In French, for instance: nourriture. Yep, as in nurture.

Imagine seeing through those lenses every time you’re hungry. Just using that word in your thinking filters out all the things that are not real “food”.

What you need is nurturing.

Then, once you only care about real food as opposed to “material”, go for whatever you want, including desserts - they are not health decisions, they’re pleasure decisions, and what’s a life without pleasure?

Beautiful.

As a relatively new father I find it interesting how methodical I am feeding my son and how “quick and easy” I feed myself.

It’s changed my thought process to slow down a bit and “nurture” over devour.

I’ve gotten better at that thanks to our little one, too. We learn so much from them. 🥹

“Food” has the most profound impact to my daily life. Even thinking about it makes me feel good. It is life. I agree, it is inadequate.

On a side note, I feel the same about the word “fly” and how a pesky little insect was named after it.

Alex, you get it. 🥹🫂🧡

The fly bit… Brilliant! 😂
