I set up a VPS server today, using Contabo. They required ID verification and proof of residence!
This is the first time this happened to me. Are all other hosting services following the same MO?

Never seen a hosting service asking for my id… 🤔
I am in the EU and contabo.com asked for the the ID verification to process the order. They said that they don't share that data with external partners and keep it internally safely, what ever that means 🤔
I’ve tried Vultr, Digital Ocean, Hostinger, OVH, Scaleway. None of them asked for my id. Some of them accept crypto (if that matters to you)
