Elon should change his name to Ruby to more accurately reflect his family fortune coming from Ruby mines in Africa but he prefers to tell everybody he came to America with $20 in his pocket. ( at least he doesn't say he navigated to America on an inflatable raft or something ).

regarding China though, China is world's number 1 car market and BY FAR the number one Electric Vehicle market and Elon has a factory there and Chinese are known to treat foreign companies like Tesla very harshly and favor domestic companies ( of which they have many in EV space ) so it's basically part of the deal that Elon must kiss Xi Jinping's ass daily or get booted.
