Something I don't think we're talking about enough:

Two of the (as yet) unindicted co-conspirators (Eastman and Clark) admit along the way that the fail-safe for their plans is ultimately premised on resorting to force. Clark says, "that's why there's an Insurrection Act," and Eastman says sometimes violence in necessary to protect the Republic.

Trump, for his part, then says, OK, then. I will procure the forces and motivate them to that violence. "Be there! Will be wild!"

Then, curiously enough, the thugs who show up on Jan. 6th with preordained plans for violence -- including the convicted seditionists in the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers -- insist that they believed they were supposed to have been deputized under the Insurrection Act, giving the color of law to the violence perpetrated on Trump's behalf.

What a strange idea! Except for the part where they guy who THOUGHT he was going to be Attorney General thought the same thing.

By the way, I would LOVE to have seen Jeffrey Clark's face at the moment he realized that the White House meeting he was in -- where he thought he was going to be named Acting Attorney General, and see all the superiors who were keeping him down fired before his very eyes -- instead saw all his dreams crumble into ashes BECAUSE HE HAD MADE THE CRITICAL ERROR OF PLACING HIS FAITH IN DONALD J. TRUMP!
