With the whole... y'know *waves vaguely off in the distance* looming, I'm working on a few personal projects. I've finally found a downside to my switch to linux, which, considering how far I am into this, is honestly kinda surprising:

Most DMR radio programming software is windows only.

Could I fight it out with WINE? Yeah, probably. The fact of the matter is though I honestly don't want to screw with it. As luck would have it, there's one laptop I missed in my Order 66ing Microsoft from my network - a laptop I bought for $120 from Woot that I'm pretty sure is an old elementary/middle school deployed dell. It is wildly low spec for my usual purchasing, but it was going to be my HAM radio laptop 'til I found a good one.

Which makes this officially my HT programming laptop. Neat.

I run Windows 7 Pro in a virtual machine (under QEMU) on my #Fedora laptop to get around this issue. I keep hoping that the developers of #OpenGD77 will port their CPS to Linux so I won't have to do this...
