You talk to your friends about nostr?? I will probably stop using nostr if I saw anyone I know on here lol

I do - don’t get far though. And yes! I’ve often wondered how I’d react if I came across anyone I know here. Would probably change npub.
Anyway, good that you cycle everywhere! Hate public transport too. Thinking of leaving London though. Might try out Scotland.
This is my long-term plan 👀
Really! Cool. Been looking at Dundee and St Andrews for a while now. Have some friends up there. Need to sort out a job/business there first though. Definitely cheaper and every time I’ve been I’ve liked it - just nice and open. Can get cold though.
Yeah, ideally somewhere near the Highlands, Aberdeenshire or something. But realistically, Glasgow. For work. But even Glasgow, you're a short train ride to mountains and lochs.
I quite like the cold and the rain tho. Well, I like being cosy indoors, reading whilst it's cold and raining.
Burntisland looks cool, good connections but quiet. And it has a very metal name lol
Ooh will look it up! 👍🏼
I haven't visited nor verified the well connected claims personally. Not that you're hoping on Zoopla and buying via my post lol. But just in case lol
Never know. I’m sick of renting. Almost at the point where I’ll buy anywhere as long as it’s not extortionate and a really dumpy area.
Suppose it's a matter of what work you can get, remote work would be ideal, you can be in a pleasant fishing village. If you can drive etc etc. but yeah, renting is a total waste, depressing innit.
It’s all about the work right now. Rent has taken a big bite out of my savings, which has pissed me off no end. (Paying someone else’s mortgage and some). Need to flip that around. I’d rather own the asset.
It's absurd innit. It wouldn't matter so much if it was a reasonable rent with security (I know everyone here is a libertarian lol, but I'm all in favour of Dutch /German style rent controls/caps)
Yep it’s a topic I can get quite passionate about. I avoid it here. It’s shelter. A basic need. Not a fucking “market” investment.
It's really not for everyone, but I thought I'd mention just in case. There are housing coops in London you can apply to / get on a waiting list for.
I'm not sure I would move to one unless I was thrown into the rental market again. In whcih case I would 100% do this.
Yep, Glasgow is probably the best for opportunities. Decent airport too. I like the quiet though. Possibly a little too “bustling” for me as I get older. Love being cosy indoors with rain outside. Also like exercising/cycling in the cold and then warming up inside. Need to make this move happen!
