In February 2023, I had the incredible opportunity to travel to Japan and share my personal and professional experiences as a former foster youth and clinical social worker. During my visit, I presented and collaborated with foster youth, bridging cultural gaps by discussing resilience, challenges, and triumphs within the foster care system. This exchange was transformative, allowing me to connect deeply with youth who share similar experiences yet navigate them within a different cultural context.

Japan profoundly shaped my perspectives on foster care and resilience. The experience not only broadened my understanding of cross-cultural practices but also reinforced my commitment to advocating for positive change in the lives of foster youth worldwide. Following this journey, I became a board member of the International Foster Care Alliance, where I continue to work toward fostering collaboration, understanding, and progress within child welfare systems globally.

This experience is one I will forever be grateful for, as it affirmed my dedication to amplifying the voices of foster youth and driving meaningful change.@
