Depends on the qoute in some cases.
Sure, there's a time and place for it... What I'm referring to is when people quote a note just so they can make a one word comment and get it front and center on people's feed

Quotes are part of the nostr algorithm, replies aren't.
If I quote you I've put your note in front of all of my followers but a reply won't. It also puts my reply in front of my followers instead of just the people who read replies to your one note.
