Yeah it is crazy to think about. Like now when someone says bitcoin’s (plural). Very soon one whole bitcoin will be out of reach of 99%.
The only people who started early, were those who could afford to. That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the BTC they have collected, is only pocket change to them.
Everybody else waited until the risk was worth the potential reward, which only recently happened.
Regardless of what the dollar had been worth, you can’t just expect people to put aside everything they knew or thought they knew, about currency and jump on the bitcoin bandwagon unless, as I said earlier, they had the money to blow.
Most people have had to live check to check and investing in something that goes against everything you knew, or thought you knew, about currency, is going to take some time.
Myself for example, I’m on a fixed budget and don’t have money to throw away, but since the dollar isn’t really worth anything anymore, I am willing to put aside my preconceived notions and give BTC a shot, as I don’t really see it anymore of a risk than sticking with paper money and hoping it holds its value.

When Bitcoin first came on the scene, I worked with a group of developers on a temp job.
When asked if I was mining Bitcoin too, I remember saying no. I didn't have the technical knowledge at the time, didn't understand, and thought it was fake money.
I remember being laughed out (but politely).
I can only imagine how rich that guy is today.
I've never forgotten that.
