I'm just so sorry you had to deal with that. I would be devestated if it my recommendation of nostr to a family member or colleague created something like this. I'm working on bringing educational material and scientific content to nostr. How the hell is that going to happen if there is even a chance something like this could happen again?

My client Amethyst has some automatic filtering to not show the image, and I was able to make a report because of the account name.

I don't know, about that last part - I just know that if it is that easy to post from a popular client, on a popular relay, using popular hashtags, that's a REAL problem.

#asknostr who can we contact about making improvments to Nostr's reporting spec (NIP-56, kind 1984)

It's a massive problem! I don't think we can consider it "solved" by keeping it off of popular relays and content hosts, though.

This is one of the major reasons I don't run a public relay. Most relay implementations have no way for me to keep this garbage off of it. That being the case, the most I will run is a WoT relay where I can be relatively certain the folks who can post to my relay won't be posting anything like that.

Relay operators need better tools for reviewing and acting upon reports.

I think nostr:nprofile1qqs99d9qw67th0wr5xh05de4s9k0wjvnkxudkgptq8yg83vtulad30gpp4mhxue69uhkummn9ekx7mqpz3mhxue69uhhyetvv9ujuerpd46hxtnfduq32amnwvaz7tmgd9ehgtnwdaehgu3wd3skueqyluj3x is focusing on that. He's going to help us and we're going to feature curated, private relays, only. If someone wants other relays, from their relay list, they can see that feed, as well, but I only trust my own feed.

wss://theforest.nostr1.com has never had a problem. I am extremely vigilant.

Yes, and I only read from WoT relays for my global feed on #Amethyst. Not sure how that affects feeds for hashtags, though.

nostr:nprofile1qqsyvrp9u6p0mfur9dfdru3d853tx9mdjuhkphxuxgfwmryja7zsvhqpzamhxue69uhhv6t5daezumn0wd68yvfwvdhk6tcpz9mhxue69uhkummnw3ezuamfdejj7qgwwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkctcscpyug, can you shed some light there? Are hashtag feeds reading from the relays I have set for global in my general relay settings?

Hashtags feeds use the general relay section with relays that are active for the home icon :)

Gotcha... I wonder if it would be better to use the global setting for this.

Given the case in point, I trust some of the larger relays for reading posts from folks I am actually following, but I don't trust them for reading from hashtags that display notes npubs I am not following, too.

We will migrate to a model where you can set up feeds and choose which relays to use in each. I know nostr:nprofile1qqsw9n8heusyq0el9f99tveg7r0rhcu9tznatuekxt764m78ymqu36cpz4mhxue69uhkvun9deejuat50phjummwv5hsz8rhwden5te0wfjkccte9e3xjarrda5kuurpwf4jucm0d5hsz9thwden5te0wfjkccte9e6hg7r09ehkuef0avzrjf has been bugging me for that.

It always comes back to having more tools and better tools at our disposal.
