This is indeed significant. I keep a close eye on job openings at the fusion co. in my city. Yes, changing the money will change the world. So will vastly increasing the energy.

Is fusion viable yet as a business model or is this something for the fut?
Famously always thirty years away. Until one day it isn’t.
Lots of money flowing into the space now, some very serious talent being applied, and with new capabilities like Deepmind’s AI working on containment field design the odds are shortening every month.
It’s the serious transition path we should be pushing for (after vastly increasing fission deployment through SMR, etc), and the next big step-change in human capability that will transfer well to multiplanetary.
Completely at odds with “do less with less” low-density renewables and degrowth narrative, of course.
So fascinating how AI technology can all at once give us such polarizing promise and weariness.
