Hello fellow plebs. What's your BTC noob story? Let me share mine first to kickstart it:

In 2013 I was in (local equivalent of middle/high) school and mined just out of curiosity ca 1.5btc on my (even then) prehistoric computer.

I deleted the wallet and everything else to have space on disk for Minecraft and League of Legends just a couple months after that.

Then I completely forgot about Bitcoin until 2017 when I was loudly arguing, that the price is just a bubble and I won't buy anything out of FOMO.

I felt incredibly vindicated and forgot about btc once again only to eventually learn more and finally give in in 2020.

Then due to financial troubles I had to sell most of it in 2022 close to the bottom below $20K.

Feel free to share your own royal fuckups to make me and others feel better.

Shit happens. We are still so early.

I've only been stacking for about 4 months, thought btc was just another crypto! Turns out, it's not!!!🤣🥃

Believed the hype about Ledger.

Luckily, I haven't really fucked up yet. But I remember my first buy was in Ethereum, and I bought it to gamble (I thought it was investing 😂) with even more low-quality coins like Tron, OMG, and other coins I've already forgotten. I thought Bitcoin was outdated, slow, and whatnot.

It took several months to understand that Bitcoin should be part of a crypto portfolio. Luckily, I realized some time ago that I was wrong. There is no portfolio. It's only Bitcoin.

Not really a fuck-up, but I could have some more sats today if I had never bought any altcoins.

A few years ago (during the covid lockdown) I remember seeing Bitcoin priced at 8k, but I ignored it and chose to focus on stocks and crypto (yes crypto😮‍💨) instead. This wasn't necessarily a bad decision because things turned out just fine, but it would've help quite a bit with dollar cost averaging. Oh wellz! 🤷‍♂️🙄

2013 seems be cursed. Around that time I also mined some (whole) BTCs because the technology is amazing. I learned a lot about cryptography and btc in particuar, but I don't learn enough about security. I lost my wallet keys with broken hdd ...

*didn't learn ...

2013 was the last year of gpu mining. Good going mining 1.5 btc!

It ran 24/7 since the boarding school paid electricity and it did take almost entire school year, but yeah. looking back, if I could mine with just an old computer 1.5 btc in less than a year, I would indeed sell chairs and get a mortgage to buy up all the tech I could.

Well, after battle... and all that.

Similar story. 2010 there was a thread on bodybuilding.com in the Misc section about Bitcoin. Tried mining some on my parents computer. No idea if I ever even got anything running correctly. Fast forward to 2014 buying some for drugs on Reddit lol. Mid 2017 actually understanding and accumulating bitcoin ever since.

Let me think... It was 2010 or 11. I remember sitting by my Ubuntu and ICQ, mining just via some weird software and thinking about buying SOME Bitcoins, it was investment around 300-600 CZK. But then I gave up, because money was scarce and this looked too weird, pizza buying and such. It's so long ago I don't remember if I invested in the end, maybe I really got some code and wrote it down, but anyway that PC, adress and everything is long dead. Some bitcoins, not one. I try to think positively, because this shit HURTS.

First contact with btc was in 2017 by bull run. But i don't care about it, it was just a bubble for me. After few years we have had a chat group with some friends and one of us was working for exchange, he told us about btc. I have some questions to him, than i decided to buy some sats (end of 2020). Of course on exchange🤣 But it was not so much. After i did my own research i decided to sell everything i've got in ETF and buy more sats(2021). So my decision to sell ETF and buy bitcoin instead of them was because my research and trying understand what it is delayed few month - exactly in bull run. My timing wasn't perfect, but thanks to the fact that i understood what i was buying a don't sell any sats after it crashed.
