I did a secure communication experiment with a friend a while back. We gathered the public ssh keys of people we wanted in the group, then one of us would spin up a stock OpenBSD vps, add user accounts and ssh keys, and we would ssh in to communicate.

the stock install has enough old school BSD communication software to work.

After chatting and/or exchanging files, we could log off, and destroy the vps.

Then do it again, with a script to automate account and key additions.

I also learned that its possible to zip a Veracrypt container into a .jpg. Just fyi.

didn’t come up with a name for these experiments, but something like Samizdata would do.
