If you know some programming you can create your own lines of code that generate a private key so you can store your #Bitcoin. You can try in Python it is not very hard if you choose the path of a cold wallet. Otherwise, you can use various apps 👽

Try a hot wallet first and practice sending and receiving small transactions. Also practice deleting and restoring your wallet.

Once you feel comfortable, what do you want to do with your bitcoin?

If it’s going to be for long term savings, look for a wallet not connected to the internet (cold wallet).

If you want to use it regularly for payments, consider having a lightning wallet with small amount.

If you’re new get a Blockstream Jade, lower price point, secure, can be used with mobile or other software. It’s open source and the company was started by the Adam Back who is cited in the bitcoin white paper.

I will attempt to translate:

Hot wallet: Carrying money in your pocket

Cold wallet: Locking your money in a vault

I'd also recommend you adjust how much Bitcoin you have to how well you understand Bitcoin.

$100 for lightning network hot wallet (Phoenix or Breez)

I'd say about $10,000 when you understand cold wallets (signing devices)

Millions when you understand glacier protocol with its geo-disbursed multi-sig.

But that's my personal risk tolerance. Adjust to your own risk tolerance
