Flagship iPhone from just 4 years ago, still running great, gets a software update 1 month before new models released, turns into a buggy pile of junk.

Which model? Still running an iPhone Xs without issue and my wife is still running an SE1.

11 Pro Max. Since I updated the OS a couple days ago I’ve had several bad hangs in multiple apps, including default apps like Messages. Killing the app wouldn’t even help. Power cycling appears to be a solution so far.

Wow that’s too bad. I’ve got a friend on 11 Pro Max. I’ll ask what version he’s on and if it’s happening. If I remember I reply back here though is another story.
