There is nothing wrong with voting, the problem is that we set the bar very low for someone to be a candidate.

Ah, sure. Voting is fine. I was referring to representation.

I meant that in a society where postal service is the fastest means of communication, it is completely unthinkable to raise a matter with the whole of society, thus representatives. However, with current comm and tech, it would be possible to inform the public and call out a national vote. (Presuming for a moment that the most complicated challenges wrt secure voting are resolved, or amortized/worked-around for less critical matters..)
