Columbus was a great man and Christian hero whose reputation and legacy, like so many great Christian men of ages past, was intentionally and unjustly tarnished by lesser men with wicked agendas and a lot of shiny academic credentials. This particular instance of character assassination was carried out by so-called historians like Howard Zinn.

Imperfect though he was, Columbus represents Western civilization itself, which is to say, Christendom and all that was built upon its foundations. He represents the desire that faithful European Christians had to spread the Gospel to news lands and peoples.

And he represents America as an indespensible part of our existence and heritage.

He is worthy of our honor and our remembrance.
