I believe OBS is the most used software. But beyond that I don't know lol. And I don't know how to use zapstream

This has aged and things like signing up to snort first and getting an Alby wallet aren't necessary any longer. But, here you go.

TLDR:

* Log-on to zap.stream

* Head to the dashboard - https://zap.stream/dashboard

* Grab your stream url and stream key fron that page

* Setup stream details (name, tags, category, thumbnail.

* Put stream key and url into OBS (or owncast, shosho)

* Go live.

alby is still good tho, happy customer of their cloud hub and used the browser signer extension for over a year now. aside from a few glitches with some channels about 6 months ago it's been smooth as butter.

Yes and I didn't mean to suggest otherwise. When I wrote that piece Alby was one of few wallets returning the required tags for zap alerts on zap.stream.

Gonna try this. I might have to break out the Mac, since this kind of crap usually results in endless amounts of fiddling and rebuilding in NixOS.

on Mac or Linux you probably want to go with https://owncast.online/ - self-hosting your stream and stream for free.
