More data needed for audio vs text?
Discussion
yeah thats my guess as well, but haven’t used any long range bluetooth apps so i dunno
I use my phone as a BT keyboard and mouse to control my PC in another room. It's about 20 feet away through a wall, and works without fail. If I try audio in the same spot it fails without connecting. Maybe Bluetooth has different modes trading off bandwidth for range?
Sounds like a reasonable guess. We probably stretch Bluetooth pretty far these days.
Looking forward to the wi-fi bitchat update
So glad a had a flipper zero...
So, Most consumer Bluetooth devices use Bluetooth Class 2, which has an intended range of about 33 feet. Class 1 Bluetooth can extend to 328 feet, in ideal conditions. Like an open field.
Here's where things get spicy though...
Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE or Bluetooth 5) introduced "Coded PHY" modes that can significantly extend range, up to 1312ft in open spaces like open fields.
Hope this helps. ✌️
