Japan not in a great position economically speaking. Food prices rising, inflation, and tariffs from US, plus the additional tariffs about to go into effect if no trade deal reached. Japanese political parties talking about handing out cash to people - like that’s going to solve anything 🤦‍♂️

I have no idea how the energy trade terms are with Australia now 🤔

US wants Japan to increase investment in defense - and that makes sense to me, but not to voters. We basically rely on US to be there when 💩 hits the fan, but those relations are somewhat shaky too.

I think the trump admin wants Japan to open imports to US vehicles and Japan is trying its best to protect its most important industry and their domestic sales - a tough sell but something’s gotta give.

I’m curious if there are any good podcasts that dive deep into the US / Japan relations 🤔
