One of my biggest learnings in the last couple years is how critical teaching is to get better at something. I began teaching jiu jitsu classes and am deeply involved in our engineering internship program.
On the surface these seem purely like service to others, but teaching is also a selfish endeavor. I've never had so much personal growth in both of these domains since I've been forced to explain concepts and help students solve their own unique problems.
I'm thinking it is one of those fundamental patterns of learning. Now I've been trying to do the same thing with bitcoin, just to make sure that I understand things as deeply as possible.
