Cashu is pretty cool, but itβs like the question being asked was, βHow can we 10x the complexity of using bitcoin?β
Discussion
It is unnecessary imo
To be fair Bitcoin at its very beginning was 10 times harder to use than what Cashu is right now already. And like everything it's a mater of trade-offs . Chaumian e-cash may have a important place in all of this IMO
I actually appreciate what it offers. We just have to start over with the UX if anyone is going to use it, and calling it eCash or something like that has the immediate appearance of diving deep into shitcoin territory.

Didnβt work for me. Just got an error message and an endless spinner trying to claim it. This is exactly the kind of UX obstacle Iβm talking about.
Wow! This is the first time I had an issue giving a cashu token away
I think the mint data is wrong. This is what it says:
From Mint:

My biggest objection to the new eCash implementations atop of Bitcoin is that they carry *both* self custody risk and second-party custody risk
Lose your eCash wallet or backups, money gone
eCash issuer (bank) decides to run away with actual Bitcoin, also money gone
Hey guys, donβt mean to interrupt but I would appreciate if you could guide me about Ecash and all that. I recently heard the term in the latest podcast from #[2]β and I certainly didnβt get it.
Keep crushing it. Thanks! β‘οΈππΌ
I guess you can kind of think of it as a second layer on the Lightning Network. A node can be used to issue payment vouchers for sats on the Lightning network that can be sent and received without any identities being revealed. The receiving party can withdraw their sats back to a Lightning wallet at any time without worrying that the invoice will expire. Iβm sure others here can explain it better than me.
Thanks for the explanation!
