Oh perspicacious observer of human behavior, though actual people fall far short of the ideal, one ought still to endeavor to be good.
No one should ever fulfill an ideal. That would just mean that the ideal wasn't perfect enough.

Yes! And this is a time where those ideals in short supply! Everyone wants fulfillment and that’s no good.
We need things to look up to. Goals we can always aspire to, but never reach.
