I predict a whole foods implosion.

Do elaborate pls...
local brands disappearing en masse, shitty sales, empty shelves, less staff.
theyll do a big layoff and close weaker stores in anticipation of less spending.
all the tech and corporate office workers getting laid off are their market.
cheaper groceries are always the first and easiest budget cut in house holds. (right before eating out less.)
Gotcha. I haven’t seen too much of that in my area - though they have been out of Whole Foods branded ghee for several months. Everything else though still appears largely fully stocked. May be a function of the local economy has well. Im in an area that’s presently growing rapidly in terms of population.
That said my experience has been maybe the opposite. Been doing a lot of farmers market shopping so grocery share is probably be increasing for us, but we’ve dialed down most other costs beyond clean food and fitness expenses.
Whole Foods the store? Or like “whole foods” the concept?
the store
I would bet against implosion. Since it’s owned by Bezos, it benefits from Amazon’s never-has-to-turn-a-profit patina.
i don’t think they’ll completely collapse.
but a decent contraction.
Could be. With food prices increasing, people may be less willing to spend more for Whole Foods’s already inflated pricing.
Though Whole Foods can fight back by lowering product quality and costs—which may be what you’re observing.
How so? What do you see?
