I met a few times an elderly gentleman who had organised exactly this in rural Victoria and NSW during the 1989-1992 recession here in Australia.

He was Calabrian, and possessed of a certain credibility that discouraged "squirelly" bidders.

I didn't ask, but a mutual friend told me the elderly gentleman hadn't even charged the bankrupt farmers for this "service". He apparently saw it as a public service, though I'm sure he wouldn't be shy about turning up a decade later to call in the favour...

God bless. The world needs more like him.

A little yes.

He once killed a court bailiff just for serving papers on him. Did time for that, though they could never prove murder.

Fortunately for the country, younger Calabrian-Australians tend to be assimilated middle-class normies!

Are the Calabrian the aboriginals of Australia?
