Americans celebrate how many years you’ve lived but in Iran we celebrate the year you’re entering. Which I think is more exciting. So rather than turning 5, a child is entering their 6th year, for example.

You get to celebrate and acknowledge they are entering a next phase. A celebration of growth!

Also does this mean it’s your birthday. If so, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Nope, not my birthday.

A bit like the 20th Century was actually 1900 - 1999, I like it.

Also, my wife and I argue constantly about a time.

She thinks the back of 8 is something like 8:05, I point out that the back of 8 is something like 8:55

Also, decimal is not 1 to 10, it is actually 0 - 9. The 10 is a carry into the next column. 10 could represent any base; binary, octal, decimal, duodecimal, hexadecimal etc...
