I’ve just joined. There’s some of us who are just hearing about it for the first time!
It's been a while since I looked through https://stats.nostr.band so I spent some time there. Below is what I saw with the caveat that I don't know all the nuances on how the data is put together:
#Nostr daily active users seems to hover around 8k-10k. This count goes up when something unpopular happens on twitter like Elon rate limiting posts/dms. You can see this around July 1 when active count spiked to 14k.
The weekly chart tells a similar story with the count hovering between 20k-30k
There is a massive gap between pubkeys and profiles with ln addresses. With how addicting/fun zaps are I think helping new users get immediately set up on lightning would go a long way to continued growth/enagement/adoption.
The majority of users are grouped in the top 7-8 relays
I would expect adoption to continue in waves with spikes when other platforms marginalize users.

I'm not sure why the system unfollows you and I have to re-follow again! Is that normal?
Depends on what client you're using (amethyst, days, primal) and what relays you're connected to. Could be that you are still following me but not every relay has it etc.
Follows and followers are a little clunky on nostr for the time being
