The Christmas Truce of 1914 happened between obedient government agents on both sides of a terrible, mortal conflict. They realized that they had higher, shared interests and responsibilities to each other and humanity than their Caesarical overlords.

Not many of us are in a bombs and bullets fight for our lives, but still we can choose to set aside our differences and conflicts, whatever they are, and embrace each other as the brothers and sisters that we are.

The soldiers that exchanged gifts that Christmas were transfered and chastised, and the powers that were upped the ante of the conflict, making it even more gruesome and hellish than it had been.

In the age of the internet, the powers that be can try to censor us, but I have hope that humanity will win.

How can you have a Truce this Christmas?

How can your Truce last more than just a single day?

Be the change you want to see in the world.

Merry Christmas! 🎄

I love this story. I can’t explain why though.

I do too, obviously since I shared it. Ha!

I like it because it shows that even in terrible circumstances peace can win the day. They were forced back into combat, but they had peace for a time, and of their own making.
