Can someone remind me again what problem ETH solves?

- World computer?

- ICO's?

- Smart contracts?

- NFT's?

- DeFi?

- "Ultra Sound" money?

- EVM's?

ETH is still a blockchain that is searching for a problem to solve. The development community does not operate around a first-principle perspective - it has no identity, no calling for it's existence. Arguably i think the best reason for ETH to exist has been to illustrate the consequences of the compromises they've made. It reinforces bitcoins approach to solving ultimately what makes good money.

Anyhow, congrats to the tech bros at ETH you were just gift wrapped an ETF solely for political posturing by the democrats after bitcoin fought for 10+ years to make it happen.

Of course you don't need ETH for the following, however:

I still think there is value in bypassing Wall St to access investment opportunities without the whole "accredited investor" nonsense, SEC, etc. Of course that opens up the door to ICO scam season but humans will adapt to new realities. Would likely result in more personal connections (reduce scams) and localized business financed thru tokenized shares. Think micro-industries. Localized 3D printer manufacturing. Small farms that grow real food lol.

There is also value in P2P, non-custodial exchanges.

Then there are real estate titles, legal records such as wills, scientific findings, personal verifiers, etc, that could be encoded into a P2P immutable ledger in order to wean off reliance on "essential" government services.

You kinda have to do an archeological dig to clean up all the rot and technical nonsensery in order to get to a pure vision but there is value. Now the Q is how/where to build this vision.

Thoughts? And GM!

NOH

Good point

I’m sorry man but anything that is not #bitcoin is a bad idea. Don’t fall for the narrative of tokens or whatnot; only bitcoin matters. That’s it… it took me years and tons of money to understand this lesson

I get it. Bitcoin replaces money and that's the priority, I'm on board. I'd scrap every other use to ensure Bitcoin succeeds as money. It's that important.

But to say that there is no other freedom tech is too narrow a view for me to fully embrace. Know what I mean?

There are thousands of regulatory moats that need to get rekt to make this world a better place. Same team at the end of the day, I think.

PS I don't own shitcoins lol

Something like eth is perfect "coin" for politicians.

- you know what doors to knock at (devs, largest stackers)

- the largest holders are also de facto gods that can shape the future of eth any way they like and no one can compete with them ever

- force changes you like

So now that you make sure ETH ruling class knows who's the boss, you can pump ETH with your fiat printers and make BTC look bad in comparison.

It solves the problem of VCs and tech bros not having enough easy ways to scam unsophisticated investors at scale.

Yes i think it's sufficient to say the narrative is the slippery nature of ETH. It's always the best at something... soon.... we promise.

This is really the only answer. It's just big enough where people think it can't be a scam and the fancy words must be real.

I once was a strong believer in Ethereum. I even invested in so many projects, but then I understood that smart contracts can be rewritten & change, rugging became the norm culture. Fees became ludicrous , and I came to realize one thing that the financial system that the bankers had was far superiorthan the Ethereum network. I migrated to the bitcoin chain, watching many developers make great strides the new phenomenon that's taken over. New projects developed like ordinals & today the New Runes. it seems bitcoin it's about to surpass and evolve over Ethereum. What once was a promise by Ethereum, Bitcoin is now delivering. I'm excited about the future of bitcoin I suggest you join the community. It's a great community and far better than the community that I found in Ethereum
