Made a show with Rob Hamilton discussing ordinals… I took the position that we are here to make the best money and ordinals makes Bitcoin worse money.

Listening to this now. Great conversation, love how into a corner you got him with ordinals.
"Do not try to do everything, do one thing well"
This quote exemplifies bitcoin and is exactly what differentiates the protocol from the shitcoins.
Really excited to dive in Peter, I appreciate the energy you put out into the world 🧡
“I think for the next six months to a year, this [ordinals] is going to be ripping.”

Ok but they are still a majority of the mempool at the moment, and are a majority of bitcoins recent block space, don’t see the how you could say that’s been proven wrong yet.
lol, thanks for making my point
Neither of our points are proven, as it hasn’t been months yet, but I’ve got no qualms about admitting when I’m wrong.
Excellent podcast. Trying to grasp everything, do you know if a satoshi tied to an ordinal be overwritten? Like can someone acquire the specific satoshi with the script and change it?
Good episode; explores some of the fundamental assumptions.
While ordinals are allowable by the code, they don’t have to become part of the culture. Convincing people they aren’t great is an effective social attack on ordinals.
If the ordinals layer becomes ubiquitous it will be super easy to taint coins and create a social layer that effectively censors transactions from “bad” actors, for better or worse.
The guy sits down with playing cards and literally puts on his bullshit lenses like a guy telling you to watch carefully and play the shell game.
At least he admits it's a shared delusion and not connected to bitcoin whatsoever. But all you're left with is spam on the actual chain.
Great show Peter. The idea that someone could theoretically put child porn on the blockchain makes ordinals an unnecessary risk IMO.
Excited for this, still thinking how fucking awesome the interview with Michael S (Grayscale) was. You didn't let him have it. Props for that.
Ordinals:
No royalties
No meta data
No good wallets (yet)
No marketplace (yet)
No holder verification
No mutability
No Smart contracts
No Tokens
No AMMs
Every inscription WILL live FOREVER on the most decentralized public ledger known to man.
That's the damn utility 🫡
Thank you! Great discussion that eludes to fundamentals of consensus. Reminds me a lot about discussions around block size back in the days...
