A bottom line in the red means you are not using resources to effectively better the lives of others.
A bottom line in the black means you are.
Without corporate profit as an indicator there is no way to know that you are doing good for the market, amd there is nothing to fund innovation.
Without household profit there is nothing left for savings or for charitable donations.
