Just ran the privacy report myself. It’s contacting your relays, getting profile pictures, NIP-05s, and downloading all the other images people are sending.

Gotcha. And is that a bad thing? Or should I consider ways of attempting to limit that?

Not at all. The difference between a centralized social media platform like Twitter and something decentralized like Nostr is that instead of all information being stored in one place it’s all over the internet.

For example, to get my NIP-05 your client had to contact my website and check my JSON file. This is by design and isn’t a bad thing. If you want to be able to watch a video someone sent that’s hosted on nostr.build, your client will also have to contact that website.

Damus is simply retrieving information stored in many different places. This is the definition of decentralization.

There are 275+. It has relays within this list, some websites I’ve visited from here, and then a lot of randoms.

Feels like every domain contacted is from every note/link that has been in my feed (or I’ve seen). Mostly curious as to why!
