I do have a huge concern about this. These mints are doing what a real mint does; they are taking a commodity/asset/collateral (Bitcoin) and issuing IOUs/debt/CURRENCY.

It's not fiat, but it's the same as when a government takes gold and issues paper currency redeemable for that gold.

It's also centralized, even if an individual runs their own.

This seems like it's just ASKING for trouble with governments.
