The most common misunderstanding about empires is this idea that it will all just collapse. Many years had passed before the Roman Empire was declared to have “collapsed.” It’s only when we look back in history that we realize empires had collapsed. What if historians in the future declare that America “collapsed” after Covid? That is certainly when things reached peak insanity. It’s all been downhill since then.
