I took a long shot today at work. And it didn’t work out as expected, so I don’t know if it was the right thing to do.

I knew that there was an open position for a director in our department.

So I asked my boss’s boss if I could be a right fit for the position, which he gratefully declined, saying that he’s looking for a more experienced person for the role (it’s true that I don’t have enough management experience)

But that he’s keeping me in mind, for other stuff etc (trainings, certifications,..)

He sees me as a someone more technical for now, I guess.

I don’t know what to make of that.
