80 years ago Japan was raping entire cities and island chains

The USA was the only allied country that had a beef with Japan, and no one was going to leave Europe to go fight a Pacific war after being so deafeted and the army that did beat the Nazi's wasn't going to fight in the Pacific, and were more focused on taking Europe under it's umbrella.

So the fastest and easiest option was to nuke the place.
