Are they going to block personal phone apps too? This is quite interesting. The scare is that employees will leak confidential information. nostr:note106hlwt958e6v5fyulpgluq3esw37djg7geamnna6xc4eku8jdprszd49c6

My company is weary of this too. They don't want user PII to leak in any way to the training models such that outsiders might be able to get it.

Good use case for local instance?

They actually encourage one of our engineers who asked about that! I started trying to run one locally on my home machine. It worked, but I don't use it all that often.

I've had worries that VSCode copilot might remember things I do with it, like keeping a copy of my keys when I'm modifying system files or my passwords to my FTP users when editing remotely.

What about someone keeping a copy of their bitcoin seed phrase on their local machine, opening it in VSCode, and MS gets to say "thanks for the stack of sats!"
