It would be nice if there were more empathy on here for the people (particularly the ladies) who want to limit or filter who and what they are exposed to.
It is not censorship, when a woman wants a conversation to end and disappear.
It is not censorship, when a woman doesn't want to see your intimate portraits.
It is not censorship, when a woman mutes you for misbehavior.
This isn’t a platform it’s a protocol. Are you sure there is no client that offers what you want. Most clients offer mute lists, most relays offer filters.
If what you want doesn’t exist and you think there is a demand for it, suggest it to the open source community or better still code it yourself. If you can’t code, but see a compelling feature, then maybe that’s an opportunity to learn to code.
There are no overlords here, there is nobody telling you what you can or cannot do. There is nobody to blame and there is nobody to praise.

Hmm, there might me more empathy then visible. How would you like the empathy expressed towards you and others in similar situation? Or the opposite, what does not help?
Anytime I request a new feature to deal with this problem, men invariably show up to mansplain and lecture me to stop whining and learn to code, or to shame developers who are working on such tools as censors.
Developing features which make Nostr more useful for half of the human race, is not censorship.
In principle, what you are suggesting sounds right. There are good comments in this thread about 1st vs 3rd part filters in the context of censorship.
Where exactly did you make requests for the filtering new features? Could you send a link? I would like to better understand why it was not effective.

Filters you apply yourself isn’t censorship. Filters a third party apply for you is. You should ofcourse be able to filter out content you don’t want to see.
Anyone who suggests that you muting them is "censoring" is not serious about free speech.
