Can confirm nostr.wine + filter relay drastically fixed my UX on Damus. Combined with filtering paid only relays on global made it a brand new smooth app. Well done #[0]

can you explain how the filter relay works? ty.
Thank you for sharing.
the way i understand it, it pulls events from people you follow and those they follow from a set of relays you may not have.
it also publishes your events to a set of relays you may not publish to.
ie. limited sync for paid members’ web of connections across a bunch of other relays
https://damus.io/note1jfxs4l3f2h9t8xh2f4rz2d6q3k44h900elzvx6un2pce0n386zwqm4rj5j he was kind enough to write a response to my message where I mention about my worries and explained how the filter works.
I also use it and this is how I see your message as a comprehensible one from global feed. But also have conflicted feelings about using a filter after escaping the Twitter’s algorithms… Do you have any way that you can suggest how to pick paid relays or is it a trial&error process?
Just want to be clear that we are very conscious of this and the filter is designed without any “algorithms” besides your follows+their follows.
As we start to filter spam from our aggregator, we will be transparent about that process too.
For now the only time we are “augmenting” your requests is when you look for global content (limited to your web of contacts, randomly sampled if you have a lot). Every other request made through the filter is simply returning everything the aggregator has.
Thanks for the explanation! :)
This NOSTR has such a fresh community vibe and I’m almost the first time contributing. I don’t know how it helped me to switch from just a “reader” to “contributor” but I’m glad it did. :)
Yeah I had a massive UX gain by switching to more paid relays
